Americans For Safer Air Travel

About Us

A recent news account summed it up: "Brace yourself for a summer of miserable air travel. Planes are expected to be packed fuller than at anytime since World War II... Fares are rising. Service frills are disappearing. Logjams at airport security checkpoints loom as the federal government strains to keep screener jobs filled. The usual violent summer storms are expected to send the air traffic control system into chaos at times, with flight delays and cancellations cascading across the country."

Americans for Safer Air Travel is a new, non-partisan public education and advocacy organization started on behalf of people who use or work in the nation's air travel system. After the 9-11 attacks, terrorism is a top concern for everyone. We have additional concerns, however, about how well our heavily used air travel system is being managed from day to day. Someone, it seems, needs to raise questions and keep an eye on things to see that the system is being managed for the well being of the people who use it and work in it.

We are just getting started, and we don't pretend to have all the answers. However, we think that by banding together on the internet, we can ask the important questions so the experts we pay for with our tax dollars can make the system run better while keeping it the safest form of transportation in the world.

We'd like to hear what you think about today's air travel system.
